The BCAC is so happy to bring this now third annual April Talent in the Town Series exhibit featuring artists with special needs/ disabilities in conjunction with Autism Awareness month. The past two years, it has been such a success and with the help of exhibiting artists, we look forward to another talented exhibit.
This exhibit runs on the 1st floor of the Bridgewater Municipal building from April 4-28, 2016. The closing reception will be Thursday, April 28th from 6:30-7:30. We invite all to attend. We offer some light refreshments while browsing the artwork, as well as a crafting area for kids, in the conference room adjacent to the courtroom.
If you would like to exhibit with us this year, submission deadline for artwork to the Bridgewater Clerks office is from March23-28. (Located on the 2nd floor of the Bridgewater Municipal building)
We will have permission slips available on this site within a few days so bear with us. You can also email us directly for instructions at firstname.lastname@example.org. We look forward to displaying your artwork. We take any 2D artwork as long as it follows our mounting instructions so we can hang it, be it novice or professional, child or adult:o)
The BCAC is accepting 2D artwork, and it must be either mounted on foamcore board, be on canvas with a wire, or framed with a wire. We ask that each piece is CLEARLY MARKED ON THE BACK with your name, address, email address and telephone number. We do have a small display case or 3D objects, but please email us with a picture of it, so we can let you know if we can fit it in the space. Our email is email@example.com.
Looking forward to exhibiting!
One week from today, the BCAC has their exhibit reception! Tomorrow the committee meets to plan the layout of the halls. We’re so excited to see the artwork in person! Have you checked out our Facebook page, with the sneak peeks of the artwork??
Prehaps not the best title, but the BCAC welcomes back Maggiano’s to our upcoming event and exhibit. Talent in the Town not only encompass fine arts, but the culinary arts as well!!! Maggiano’s for the second year in a row will dazzle our tastebuds with a sampleing of their tasty food. Last year, as I very well remember, was these fantastic chocolate and white chocolate truffles, as well as these super delish lemon cookies. What will they entice us with this year???
Then there is the new. This year at our Talent in the Town exhibit reception, we will be offering a free craft for the kids. This unique art form (don’t want to give too much info…so to surprise you) will be put together to create a collaborative installation at the Bridgewater Municipal Building.
So mark your calendars, Tuesday, October 20th from 6-8 pm. Free and fun for the whole family!!!
Summer is rounding out, and the BCAC has been busy planning! Tonight and tomorrow morning we launch our Call to Artists for our upcoming October 2015 exhibit and reception. We are so excited to bring yet another opportunity for Bridgewater residents to let their talent shine! Please check up in the header for the Call for Artists Tab for all the information you need to participate. But, wait! Not an artist, and want to show support, see some good talent, grab a beverage and chat with the artists and performers, then please, everyone is invited to join us at our reception on October 20th, 2015 at the Bridgewater Municipal Building, from 6-8…no need to be a resident to come enjoy a wonderful evening and show your support for the arts. We even have some fun, FREE crafts for the kids.
Here’s our exhibit summary pulled right from the official Call:

Happy 4th of July! Thought we’d revisit last year’s patriotic photography exhibit. Talented photographers as Lauren Loftus, Councilman Filipe Pedroso, and local Bridgewater photography business Drumhill Studios participated in this show, to name a few.
BCAC had a wonderful time working a free arts and crafts tent yesterday in Downtown Somerville For the second annual Flag Day Festival. We also made cards to thank the service men at the festival, veterans, as well as military over seas.
Operation NJ Cares will take care to do the mailing, with their packages of need and donated goods they send overseas. Our artwork and thank you cards will be the first thing soldiers see when they open the anticipated care package!
We thank those of you who came and crafted with us, and those who missed the festivities…please check us out next year. And to all, Happy Flag Day! Enjoy the beautiful weather and fly your flags outside your homes proud!
Check out our photos page for more of this event!

Flag day festival 2015
Kids love bubbles! So why not try this project at home, and let your kids explore the fun of making these beautiful and fun crafts!
supplies for bubble wands:
- twigs about 6 in. long and a diameter of a pencil
- pipe cleaners
great project to do after spring cleaning your yard. First use a pipe cleaner to creat an “o” shape with a tail, by twisting the ends together. Note. If you want to make smaller more conventional “o”s, cut your pipe cleaner in half. Then grab your yarn and match up the end with the tail of the pipe cleaner o. Align both with the stick end, pointing downward. Begin wrapping your yarn tightly around all three. This ensures your yard won’t unravel. Keep wrapping all down the stick, until it is all covered. Cut about 4 more inches of yarn as a tail to your wand. Male a loop with the yarn and feed through the remaining tail of yarn and pull firmly. You can repeat this step if you’d like. Cut excess and voila, a beautifully crafted bubble wand. Great for a birthday party craft.
bubble juice recipe
- 4 cups warm water
- 1/2 cup corn syrup
- 1 cup dawn dish soap
mix together warm water and corn syrup and stir gently until the syrup seems devolved. Add dawn soap and again stir gently. Take note not to agitate too much as to not create too many suds. Transfer to a container like a soda bottle and let stand for 24 hours…the longer the bubble juice sits, the firmer the bubbles!
Have fun with this project. And come back to our site and leave us a comment of your experience!
